The Ethics of Auto-Applying: Our Approach

Industry Insights
7 min read

The rise of auto-apply tools has created a paradox in recruitment. While they promise to save job seekers time, the reality of mass-applying to hundreds of roles has flooded employer inboxes with irrelevant applications, making the process worse for everyone. At Hireable, we believe auto-apply can be done responsibly — and we've built a system that proves it.

The 3-Tier Approach

Hireable's auto-apply system operates on three tiers, each designed for different scenarios. Tier 1 uses direct API integrations with job boards for instant, accurate submissions. Tier 2 handles well-known platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed through intelligent DOM interaction. Tier 3, reserved for unfamiliar application forms, uses Claude's computer-use capability to navigate any website — but always with human confirmation before submitting.

“The goal isn't to apply to more jobs. It's to apply to the right jobs, faster.”

Every application is scored for relevance before submission, and users can set confidence thresholds that determine when Phil applies automatically versus when he asks for approval. The result is a system that respects both the job seeker's time and the employer's attention.
